Delivering behavioural enhancement in your target audience

Over the last 10 years, I have supported 23 major national and international employee awareness, education and change programmes for private and public sector organisations, particularly in compliance fields such as security and data privacy. For many programmes, I serve as lead copywriter throughout planning and implementation. I support strategic and stakeholder activities, and draft an extensive range of cross-media awareness materials.

Planning

I can support initial stages of a programme, including preparation of benchmarking activities, and helping to define the scope and structure of educational messages. I can help to establish the voice of the programme, developing it in line with the organisation’s brand and culture.

I also assist client project teams in their stakeholder engagement activities, including promoting the value of the programme, and preparing board-level proposals and reports.

Implementation

From the outset of a programme (including any pilot phases), I help to transform behavioural messages into engaging digital, print and live-delivery materials. I support planned campaigns that focus on specific topics, and ad hoc communications that address emerging organisational priorities.

For larger organisations, I prepare content packs that managers can deliver to their team, consisting of presentations, posters and associated materials.

Support tools

Most programmes require centralised tools that support behavioural messages.

For example, this often includes an intranet portal that acts as a comprehensive reference resource about the subject. The portal is promoted to employees as a focal point of the wider programme, and is referenced on all campaign materials.

Compliance

The majority of programmes I have worked on relate to compliance subjects such as security and data privacy.

Programme objectives include enhancing employee security and information handling skills, and promoting a security mindset that brings benefit to an employee’s personal life as well.

Topics I am familiar with include cyber security, GDPR, information management, personal data, phishing, physical security and social media use.
